IP3 section between Canas de Santa Maria and São Miguel de Outeiro closed overnight on 13, 14 and 15 July

Night-time closure on the IP3

A section of the Itinerário Principal 3 (IP3) between the Canas de Santa Maria junction and the São Miguel de Outeiro junction will be closed overnight from Monday to Wednesday, Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) said on Friday.

Dates, times and location

In a statement, IP said: "On the nights of 13, 14 and 15 July, works will be carried out to improve traffic conditions on the section between the Canas de Santa Maria junction and the São Miguel de Outeiro junction", in Tondela, in the district of Viseu.

The road will be shut to traffic in both directions between 21:00 and 06:00.

What work will be carried out

IP said the closure is needed to allow temporary traffic management signs to be put in place, permanent vertical signage to be installed, road markings to be applied, and rigid concrete safety barriers to be fitted.

IP3 duplication project

According to IP, these traffic restrictions are linked to the IP3 duplication contract on the route connecting Coimbra and Viseu, with construction currently taking place between Santa Comba Dão and Viseu.

As part of this project, upgrade works have already been completed on the section between the Penacova junction (km 59) and the bridge over the River Dão (km 75,160).
