Meeting with Infraero and AEMDI business leaders in Ipatinga
FIEMG Vale do Aço welcomed Infraero’s commercial superintendent, Rodrigo Medeiros, and the company’s project co-ordinator, Carlos Guerra, on Tuesday (30/6) for a discussion with entrepreneurs from the Association of Companies Based in the Ipatinga Industrial District (AEMDI). The session was convened to outline initiatives, investment outlooks and potential partnership opportunities linked to the Vale do Aço Regional Airport.
Vale do Aço Regional Airport: areas available for investment
During the conversation, Infraero representatives underscored the airport’s strategic value as a platform for new ventures that could accelerate regional economic growth. According to Rodrigo Medeiros, the Vale do Aço Regional Airport has roughly 120,000 square metres of space available for investment.
"This is a strategic opportunity not only to increase passenger traffic, but also to drive the region’s economic development by attracting investment in hotels, logistics parks, EV charging hubs and other businesses associated with airport activity. Infraero has an airport site with significant potential to accommodate developments that strengthen the local economy, create jobs and increase the competitiveness of Vale do Aço," he said.
Regional priorities and the need for public–private collaboration
The meeting also created room for debate on the region’s foundational infrastructure needs, alongside the importance of closer alignment between the public and private sectors to enhance regional competitiveness.
Infrastructure bottlenecks and the case for a modern convention centre
Luciano Araújo, co-ordinator of the Infrastructure Axis of the Vale do Aço Convergence Agenda, said the discussion offered a valuable moment to explore investments that could reshape local infrastructure.
"Vale do Aço has enormous economic and logistics potential, but it still faces bottlenecks that limit its ability to attract major events, business and investment. One major shortfall is the lack of a modern, suitable convention centre capable of meeting regional demand and boosting business tourism. The dialogue with Infraero opens up new perspectives for thinking about the integrated development of our infrastructure," he noted.
FIEMG Vale do Aço’s role in regional development
The initiative reinforces FIEMG Vale do Aço’s commitment to advancing actions focused on regional development, attracting investment and building solutions that help strengthen Vale do Aço’s economy and infrastructure.
