Two of Hard Rock Hotels’ flagship resorts in Mexico will pause operations temporarily to undergo their biggest refurbishment since opening. Located in Cancún and Puerto Vallarta, both properties will close for around five months and are due to welcome guests back at the end of December, with bookings already open for the summer 2026/2027 season.

The project covers the Hard Rock Hotel Cancún and the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta, two of the brand’s leading all inclusive resorts in the country. According to the company, the work will bring infrastructure upgrades, fresh design concepts and changes across multiple parts of each hotel.

Work will include updates to guest rooms, shared areas and on-site amenities. Meeting and convention facilities are also set to be revamped during the construction period.

At the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta, one of the announced additions is a wedding chapel designed to face the Pacific Ocean. The new space will expand the resort’s offering for events and celebrations.

Refreshed music memorabilia collection

Another planned change is an update to the hotels’ music memorabilia collection. The resorts will begin displaying new items linked to artists and bands from music history, keeping a hallmark feature of the brand.

Refurbishments aim to modernise the guest experience

Hard Rock Hotels says the plan is to refresh a range of resort areas while retaining the group’s identity. The proposal also includes new spaces geared towards families, as well as dedicated areas for children and teenagers.

“Estamos transformando completamente a maneira como nossos hóspedes viverão a experiência do Caribe e do Pacífico, desde os apartamentos até os espaços projetados para cada integrante da família”, said Erika Cruz, general manager of the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta.

Ximo Blanch, general manager of the Hard Rock Hotel Cancún, said the refurbishment underscores the company’s commitment to renewing the brand’s portfolio in Mexico.

The group adds that the operational pause was scheduled to minimise disruption during the peak summer season and to concentrate the works within a defined window of the calendar.

As a result, both resorts will remain closed for roughly five months before starting to receive guests again.

Other Hard Rock resorts in Mexico will remain open

While the works are under way in Cancún and Puerto Vallarta, Hard Rock Hotels’ other all inclusive resorts in the region will continue operating.

The properties in Los Cabos, Riviera Maya and Punta Cana will keep hosting guests through winter and spring, serving as alternatives for travellers during that period.

Despite the temporary closures, the company has already begun selling stays for after reopening. Reservations for the Hard Rock Hotel Cancún and the Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta are available for the summer 2026/2027 season.

The refurbishment of both properties forms part of the group’s strategy to update long-standing assets within its historic Mexico portfolio, while keeping the rest of its resorts operating during the intervention period.
