Fatal accident on a building site in Aminona

A 32-year-old construction worker from Baguim do Monte, Gondomar, died on Wednesday after a workplace accident on a site in Aminona, Switzerland.

According to the authorities, the man was struck by a metal bar. He was given initial treatment at the scene and then airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Lausanne, but later died in the evening because his condition was too severe to be reversed.

What happened during the work in Crans-Montana

The incident occurred at around 14:00 during building works in Aminona, in the municipality of Crans-Montana. It is understood that the Portuguese worker was injured while drilling operations were under way on the site.

Swiss investigation and funeral information

The Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation, and an inquiry is examining the causes so that it can be established exactly what happened on Wednesday afternoon at the Aminona site.

On social media, the Portuguese funeral home that will handle the funeral identified the victim as Valentim Filipe dos Santos Branco, who was born in Baguim do Monte. “The date and time of the funeral ceremonies will be announced in due course,” the notice adds.
